Two MTI 9-second C5s win HUGE Supra event!
Here is a short summary I made on LS1Tech.com : SW vs Stacy Barnett in finals!
Way to go MTI! Awesome driving Stacy, running 9s in a car that was just completed and no seat time is DAMN impressive! Two 6-speed Corvettes running 9s in the finals makes me proud too :D

Awesome,Any idea what kind of tires these two nine second cars were on?ET Streets,ET Drags,Hoosiers,15-inch tire/wheels?I'd love to know how these cars can hook up that much power,especially six-speeds.

I knew I should have gone out there. Saturday night at Starbucks it looked like the, "FAST AND THE FURIOUS". There were so many Supra's out there, it was crazy. I knew I missed something BIG.

This is great news.
I have a friend at work who is major Supra guy. He loves to show me videos and tell me Kill stories of Supras blowing the doors off corvettes. I think he is pretty good friends with SW and I know he was at this event, so I can’t wait to give him sh;& tomorrow.
I’m a newbie to the corvette/performance world, so I usually just have to sit there and listen to all of his stories. Those Supras do seem pretty awesome on the street, but I still think that a corvette can compete against them in price/performance. He claims that you can make Supras very fast with very little money, but it seems to me that those aftermarket turbo kits are outrageously expensive.
What do you guys think? Supra TT vs C5, both with no more than 5k in the motor. Who would win at the track? What about on the street?

$5k in mods. I would give the nod to the Supra. Unless the C5 could run NO2 and the Supra couldn't, even then the Supra still might win.
***** to the wall, both cars I think the C5 has more potential with a possible 454ci (isn't that the largest anyone has gone) Twin Turbo. Although a smaller stroke may actually help with a high revving turbo engine.

I was a great day for the MTI Vettes. I just want to congradulate Stacey B. for making it into the 6sp 9sec club. His driving was fantastic. I was having problems shifting into third in the Supra all day. Stacey and I lined up for one of the elimination runs, he cut a .698 light to my .711. I took alittle longer to make my 2-3 shift, Stacey ran a 9.96@142 to my 9.97@154. Neither one of us knew who won until we got the slips! I thought it was the best race of the day. We ended up in the finals, he missed third, I missed 4th, wasn't pretty, but a Vette did win the Supra Meet. Stacey and I got our pictures taken in front of my car for Turbo Magazine, that should raise some interesting comments from the import crowd. :D
