Default electric powered supercharger?!? Could one work?

saw a post about an elec. powered supercharger couple people wrote said snake oil, which it most likely is.... but is it possible???how much H.P. is required to make 5-6 psi...how about an on board compressed air storage tank, maintained by an elec. motor/compresser only add boost say after 3/4 throttle or at full throttle.Maybe not a mega HP makerbut I'VE had a few DD that would have been sweet w/additional 20 to 40 hp...just some stray thoughts

Many mechanical SC's take 18-20 HP just to turn them, need a pretty big electric motor-if you want CHEAP HP, go Nitrous.

Compressed works I know this from a test I did several years ago. But its not practial. For a 80 cubic inch engine I needed a reserve tank of 90 gallons For a 8th mile run But it made 218hp on a 4 cyl gm engine right befor it came appart. As for the onboard compressor. No way that will work, unless you use a electric motor to turn a supercharger and it will weigh as much as a person.

There's a couple high quality kits out there, but they are not cheap, can not be used for extended periods (only good for passes down the dragstrip) and require several extra batteries to function. So they aren't practicle for street use; better off just going with a mechanicle unit.

Why install extra batteries or a compressed air system when you can just install a belt?
