Default clutch pedal question

ok so this may sound odd or funny.
so my mom recently bought a 2000 c5 6speed. she can drive the car no problem except one.
she is only about 5'4 and getting in to 1st gear is an issue cause she has to use her tip toe to get clutch all the way in, all other gear shifts are no issue..

is there any way to adjust the pedal out so she can reach it better?
or is there like an aftermarket pedal pad i can put on so it helps a bit?

please any help is greatly appreciated. this is her dream car so i want her to enjoy it.

It seems to me that she would have a hard time starting it, not shifting gears. But regardless... look for a "Clutch Stop" that should solve the problem.

ok i looked up a clutch stop.
im not sure how that will fix the problem?
if im correct the clutch has to be fully depressed to start the car and to down shift into first gear?

It should be adjustable for height and it should also have a tab on it with a bolt that depresses the Clutch safety switch because the pedal will no longer reach it when starting...

Or you can try a pedal overlay...

EDIT; Wow I only found this one;

ok i think i understand now. please bear with me cause i have never heard of this device.

so when i install the clutch stop the tab on it will depress the clutch safety switch allowing me to start the car without the pedal being fully depressed?

is this dangerous in any way?

i thought of an overlay as well

A pedal stop alone won't change the point where the clutch disengages.

Bolt a block of wood on the pedal, like our dads did on our trikes when we hadn't quite grown into them. The holes in the pedal on the Corvette make this pretty easy. Once you get the thickness right, you can bond some rubber or something to the front surface so it won't be slippery.

I've done this on a couple of cars. One had such a stiff clutch that most of my leg movement went toward pushing me back in the seat.
I did it another time after knee surgery, when I couldn't straighten my leg. Works great.

Clutch engagment isn't an issue for her, she can drive the car fine, just having trouble starting and getting into first...

Understood. The problem is disengaging the clutch because she's too short to push it down all the way. That's why a pedal stop won't make any difference, because it won't disengage the clutch any farther when her leg is fully extended. And it's why a spacer on top of the pedal will fix it.

Making her leg longer by attaching the spacer to the bottom of her shoe would work too, but it will make her walk funny.

If she's having trouble getting into first, the clutch is probably dragging on other shifts too. Hard on the trans.

Yeah she would look funny that way!

Good point, I hadn't considered partial disengagement...

if im not mistaking there is a disengaging point for a clutch. and from the factory they set it up with more play then needed, meaning on 2-6 gears you shouldnt have to push the clutch all the way to the floor, just to the point where it disengages correct?

i may just do the block of wood or block of aluminum with some grip tape or rubber pad itll only need to be 2-2.5" thick not too bad.

Just Google Pedal Extenders (make sure you spell Pedal correctly) and you will see many ideas for making or buying (some very expensive).
