Default Air conditioning problem 1999 C5

Hi,
So the other day the cold air just stopped coming out of the vents. The air still flows, just not cold air. lights and fans all work like normal. I had the gas checked and its ok. But the ambient temp read 32 deg. So my mechanic guessed it was the sensor. He replaced it and it problem still remains (both the wrong temp and no cold air).

Also my oil pressure is off the scale, both on the analogue and digital meters. But the actual oil pressure is normal. This has been like this for a few months.

Do you think these problems could be related? Am I having general electrical gremlins?
My car has been tiring to send me to the poor house in the past few months so any ideas would be appreciated

The problems are not related, the oil pressure sensor just needs to be replaced, common problem. The ambient temp of 32 is why the air is not working. When he replaced the sensor did he take the time to check the wiring? Check the dic for codes I would think the sensor being bad or shorted would post a code.

If the temp sensor was replaced and the same symptoms remain, then that was not the problem. The circuit (wiring, connectors, modules) need to be checked.

where is the ambient air sensor lcoated? I've seen two diagrams, one near the windshield, and one near the radiator air intake shroud.

Isn't there also a sensor next to the ignition, behind the vent holes? I thought it was an interior air sensor?

It is.

Exterior temp sensor is in front of the radiator air duct.. looks like a little 1/4" black plastic rod sticking out almost

Agree. Buy yourself a service manual. You could have fixed this yourself for cheap and be back on the road cool.

Does your A/C compressor run? Is one A/C line coming out of the firewall sweating and the other one hot to the touch?

If the A/C compressor is running, what is your suction pressure and the ambient temp outside when that pressure was measured?

Are you able to control the air temp inside the car from cool outside air to heated air (dampers stroking?)

Can you control the air to go out the windshield, floor or vents on dash or do they all blow air all the time?

I have a 99 and just fixed several issues with mine.

PM me if you have more questions or information on your issue. I have a full set of dealer manuals for the 99 Vette I picked up online and I suggest anyone with a C5 get a set for your car. I saved myself thousands already.

Do you have either of these codes? B0332 Outside Air Temp Sensor Short to GND
B0333 Outside Air Temp Sensor Open
I still think this is your problem.

oil pressure sensor is behind the intake manifold - you have to take the manifold off to see it - good directions on the Forum for this - old sensor screws out - new screws in
make sure you reconnect the vacuum hose on the back of the intake manifold that runs to your a/c

Scroll down to post #62.

Edit:
I forgot to mention that this thread tells how to relocate it, but has information explaining the failure and pictures showing the sensor.
