hood light ??

hood light ??
just got my 01 about a month ago,1st vette coming from a 07 shelby and loving it but i notice when i lift my hood the light on the under side doent work took cover off no bulb!anyone no what kind of bulb that is or a number and hopefully the other owner didnt take it out for a reason?

it uses a gravity switch to turn on and off, so you provide 12V to the housing at all times and the light only comes on when you raise the hood, there's a little canister looking device under the cover, that's the switch.

The previous owner probably removed the bulb because on occassion, the mercury switch can stick and the bulb will stay on and run the battery down. I just unplug mine and can always plug it in when needed! You will note that the C6 does not have a under hood light. I WONDER WHY?
