squealing brakes.....................
i replaced the rear brake pads on my '98 and they now squeal when i slow down. i turned the rotors and put brake quiet on the pads. they never made any noise before i changed them. i was told that i may have to bleed the calipers. the lines were not opened up but i had to compress the pistons to get the pads to go on the rotors. i also heard that bleeding the brakes on a vette was a complicated process because of the abs system. if anyone knows a fix or agrees with the brake bleeding i would really appreciate it. also i would appreciate it if anyone knows how to bleed the brakes with abs. thanks..

If you did not open up the hydraulic system, there is no need to bleed the brakes. No chance for air to get in and diminish braking ability. You did not mention what type of pads you replaced yours with. Some are quiet, some are noisy and will never stop squeeling. I put the Hawk pads on my car when I replaced the rotors and took them off 5K miles later, never could get them quiet. Be sure that you lube the pads on the tangs where they are held in the caliper bridge, at the contact point on the caliper pistons, and lube the caliper slides under the rubber boots. That should quiet you right down.
