Default I hope my engine is ok

This saturday I was out at a wedding. I was pretty tipsy and had one of my good friends (known him for about 9yrs), whom was from out of town drive my car home. He had been to my residence quite a few times so I trusted him to get my car home safe. Well 2 hrs later I arrive home and my car wasn't in my garage. I begain blowing up his phone, but no answer. 15 minutes later, he shows up with my car and it was smoking from the left front headlight and hood area. While he pulls in the garage, it starts to leak coolant and then the check engine light comes on and he shuts down the car and he gets out and says he was just driving normally and I yell at him, WTF man, are you serious. I popped the hood and see coolant and steam coming from the reservoir cap. I then go inside the car and check the temp on the DIC and see 261*.

I'm livid at this point, b/c I'm thinking blown head gasket, warpped heads etc. I charge him up and slam him against the wall, bout to put his **** in a triangle and put him to sleep, but instead I punched 2 huge wholes in the garage wall right next to his face and then put an arm bar in his throat. And then 2 other buddies comes over and attempts to restrain me. I've never had any overheating problems with my car, never, until he got behind the wheel. Anyway, Cops ended being called out there, because it takes more than 2 guys to restrain me.

Fast forward to Sunday, I replaced the radiator cap and capped off the coolant system with a gallon of Dex cool, check the oil on the dipstick and oil cap and they were fine, then checked for leaks and there were no leaks. I started the car and the car runs and idles normal and there was no smoke from the tailpipes. I checked for leaks again, and no leaks. I took the car for a test spin, driving between 3k -5.5k rpms and the temp never went above 205* and no smoke from the exhaust pipes. So far it seems as though my radiator cap failed which caused the car to overheated, well a combination of that and him possbily ragging on my car.

It's been 2 days of driving the car and everything seems fine with my coolant system. It runs just as strong as before. I just hope there wasn't any damaged caused. Long story short, no matter how close you are to a friend, never let them drive your car.

Yeah man, just don't let him drive it again. some people don't know how to read a gauge even when it's in the red and they only have to see a color.

your car should be fine if it's running okay now and you have the correct amount of coolant in it...make sure you've got no water in your oil and if you're running 205 I'm sure the cooling system, block, heads are doing okay

Hey, you take responsibility too when you let someone else drive your car.

So now you probably have lost a friend over a RADIATOR cap-good work.
