Max HP is really an incorrect way to approach the question. Extreme power can be pushed through small cats. However the effort to do it becomes exponetially more difficult to achieve as power levels increase.
well, for one ie, I've a friend with 635 dynojet sae corr rwhp using stock cats. your ques is like whats the most hp with 2.5" exhaust or most hp with the stock intake manifold or most hp with the stock air filter...

That is correct. What I should have asked was, considering everything else being optimized, at what power level do the stock cats become restrictive? I just baselined my mild, daily driven 382 motor w/T1 cam, Stage III heads, Tpis long tubes, stock cats, and Z06 cat back at 404 rwhp. I know the stock cats are costing HP....just wondering if others have had similar/ dissimilar experiences.

My friend (TorchedTexan) picked up almost 20RWHP/TQ down low (below the curve) after removing the cats. But if you just look at the peak number, it shows only a few hp/tq.
Do a search on his user ID. Awhile back, he posted the dynograph for before and after. I am heading down that path too. Already got a pair of used O2 Sims and currently looking for an off-road x-pipe.
