You are having alot of non standard custom work done which always takes some time to fit and work properly. It would be very hard and sort of foolish to give you a totally firm quote.
Ya thanks for that but i dono if u know but they do do other things with LS engines. The shop has put LS engines in 350z's and some other cars plus the owner has an s10 with a ls6 and the mechanic has a mustang with a ls2 engine so they have lots of experience with the motor. On the other hand the corvette as a car i know it has an LS engine but as the car and chassis not so much for experience, and as far as the camaro goes it has an LS7 engine in it who would of thought those motors are in things other than Vetts weard.
I'm well aware that the LS engines are a favorite among car builders, and that they put them all kinds of vehicles.
Since you described this in detail, I'm going to say without a doubt that they are taking you for a ride and you're paying the bill. A shop that experienced should know how long it would take.

In this economy it is even more foolish to give anyone a blank check. If they cant give you a number, even thought they always throw some fat into the quote, it makes them accountable for their time. If they can " push " the time, its all gravy for them.. if they are not professional enough to give you a locked in price then they are not capable of delivering a fair job, after all you should not have to pay for their lack of knowledge and you should not be a guinea pig for their training
