Okay, I know this has been talked about before, but I'm feeling too lazy to do a search on the topic right now...soooo, could you guys give me some feedback on the kinds of coil over suspension upgrades that are out there...I heard that breathless now offers on along with DRM. Anyone have any experience with either of these set ups?
One of the objectives is to radically improve handling (not launching) and get rid of the chatter over the expansion joints. I don't want a harsh ride (right now I've got the car with Z51 suspension and lowered (front bushings removed) so its even all around (about 1.5" lower than stock). A ride similar or better to what I have now would be the hardest I'd want.
Ideally, I'm looking for ride quality to compare to the Stage 2 Dinan package available for the 1996-2001 M3's. If anyone has driven a car with this set up, you'd know what I mean in terms of smooth ride with absolutely ridiculous handling capabilities.
Now, I recognize a vette is a vette, but what options are there for me and what are the trade-offs that I'd have to evaluate? I'm not sure about this, but would I be able to remove my springs if I go coil over, or do some of the packages still require them to be in place (if they do, then I doubt the chatter problem would be eliminated).
Please enlighten me as I know only this form can!!! Thanks...
I do not have coilovers on my car yet but being a DRM customer, perhaps my knowledge could be useful. In my opinion, Doug Rippie is the absolute master of C5 suspension (not to be disrepectful to LG). He builds numerous SCCA T-1 cars for competitors across the country. My car is primarily street driven with about 10 road course events a year. Doug advised me that the coilover could be too harsh when driven on the street (not sure I care) and that I should instead consider a shock package such as Bilstein or HAL. I may follow his advice, and since DRM uses custom valved shocks for the coilover kit, I can add the springs later. They can customize the spring rate and shock valving to your needs. And coilovers do eliminate the leaf springs. Call Peter of DRM at 763-477-9272; he will give you honest, practical advice.

Re: Coil over upgrades (DRM C5)
DRM has been with it a while! I would think it would ride better than the setup you run now I had the opportunity to be a passenger in a DRM RSR 500 and it was sweat to say the least. By the very least get it from a racer who knows DRM or LG
