Ok, I've finally decided to get a non-stock air intake. Which aftermarket gives the best bang for the buck? Easiest to install? Any problems/pitfalls I should look out for?
You can get a K&Nfilter for your stock air box for about $50 at Pep Boys or another similar auto parts store, and if you perform a little surgery on the lid, you can easily get more air into your LS1. I think this is the Best Bang For The Buck, but then you won't be able to say " I got a Whambrafas Induction system on my Vette".
"The best bang for the buck" is a K&N filter, period! The Blackwing is sexier and four times as expensive, but will not give you better air flow to match. :)
K&N without a doubt ($50). Do you own a drill? Get a hole 1.5" hole saw bit at home depot ($2). Spend 5 minutes and open up the intake cover with several holes. Or Spend 10 minutes to make sure all the holes line up nice and pretty. Take out the MAF screen while you're at it. $52.. absolute best bang for your buck.
Has anyone ever dyno'd this mod versus a Blackwing or Halltech TRIC? I'd be curious to know if either of them really makes that much more horsepower.
