time was
1.588 60'
5.042 330'
7.318 594'
7.831 1/8
87.87 mph
They are great. I've had them in my A4 c5 for years...I have a blower now and still run them. You will wish you went to the 3:73's. I had 2:73's before, which were . You won't be dissapointed.
Try some online gear calculators, to find out what your cruise RPM will be (like 60mph = 2000rpm), also check your MPH at redline (like 140mph - 6500rpm). This will give an idea what you're getting into. Here's some examples using 26" tire. These are round numbers, but gives you and idea of the operating range you'll get.
.7 trans ratio (A4 OD)
3.42 2000=64mph
3.73 2000=59mph
4.10 2000=53mph
.56 trans ratio (manual 6th gear)
3.42 2000=80mph
3.73 2000=74mph
4.10 2000=67mph
You have an automatic! So I would only listen to people who tell you they have. a std auto, std. 6 spd, Z06 auto, or Z06 6 spd. Each rear end ratio will give you different results since the trans gear ratios are different. Next thing is the amount of rwhp they have. The more hp you have the less gear you will want. I had an 01 coupe 346 cu. in. with 309 rwhp and a 3.42 and I didn't have enough gear. Next I had 347 rwhp and a 4.10 gear. Too much gear in my opinion. Ate up the tires and I couldn't finish a left turn in 1st gear without hitting the rev limiter @ 6700, or banging a shift to 2nd. Shifting on a turn can get a little hairy, but fun. Put a 3.90 in it and its perfict. Now I have 437 rwhp and I think the 3.90 is still the best gear for my setup. When I SC it I don't think the 3.90 will work.
You have a std auto so in my opinion a 3.42 or maybe??? a 3.73 is about as high as I would go. Ride with someone, or look at ECS's site. They have a really nice chart with speed vs trans vs rpm vs gear ratio. Hope my 2 cents helps you make the correct choice for you. Remember correct info leads to correct choices.
Oh ya the 4.10 was a lot of funnnn! Had to replace tires and road in 6th at 50mph.
If you are really concentrating on the 1/4 mile you could go more than 3:42 and if you don't want to compromise practicality on the street 3:42's could be the answer.
