HUD question
I have a 1997, if I have a HUD unit & switch, from a 2003 is it REQUIRED for me to get a newer gauge cluster? is it just not possible to connect the HUD to a 1997 cluster? for what reason? Just want to confirm it's impossible/no way to splice it.

You need to know if your IP Cluster has the HUD capability built into it or not. For the '97's, I tend to doubt that it has it. In order to find out, pull the IP Cluster out just enough to see the top of it, looking for a small place for a ribbon cable to go from it to the HUD. The HUD gets its power and data via that cable, directly from the IP Cluster. Now keep in mind that if you buy a IP Cluster for your car, the car's mileage is stored in the cluster. You will have to have the new one updated with your current mileage to avoid any legal issues later on.

everything i've read says the HUD connector wasn't present in the instrument cluster until mid 1998 production.
To add a HUD to an early C5 that doesn't have the cluster connector... you also need to swap out the cluster from a later C5.
