I'm just looking at getting a new battery when I get home and in reading various threads I've come to the conclusion GM put the PCM in an absolutely stupid place. It's extremely vulnerable to a lot of things inlcuding battery acid.
Has anyone ever relocated their PCM to another location that isn't so vulnerable to damage? If so info please.

How often have you heard of the PCM being damaged(rendered inoperative), other than cosmetic, from the battery leaking? The wire bundles and vacuum lines are the most vulnerable to actual damage.

BUT If you are hell bent on doing it... Relocate the battery to a rear cubby hole and the PCM up to where the Battery was. I believe some FI system does that as part of their kit...
