Default E3 spark plugs? And plug wires?

Ok fellas I'm getting ready to change out the plugs and wires on my 01 Z06

I've heard allot of buzz about the new e3 spark plugs. Was wondering if anyone has them and what they think about them? I know several shows on speed have been raving about them!

Also was wondering what you guys though about the aftermarket spark plug wires out there? I was thinking the MSD super comp 8.5's. What you guys like and where's the best place to buy em? I.e the best price!

if you want an expensive plug then the ac delco 41-110 is the factory plug.

Wow! $68 for NGK TR 55's and the MSD wires? Great deal!

Why do you reccommend the AC Delco's over the NGK's? I've heard better reviews about the TR 55's. Anyone running the NGK TR 55 IX's? Whats the difference?

Those so called shows on Speed are nothing more than paid commercials! E3 plugs are just so much snake oil.

The tr55IX and ac delco 41-110 are about equal, they will last about 100,00 miles. The TR55 is a copper based and should be looked at at 15,000 or so and inspected, replaced as needed. The ac delco or iridiums last a lot longer is the difference. There is some flack about them adding hp in certain parts of the rpm band but I don't buy into it being a real gain.. I actually have a dyno sheet of someone who tried to sell iridiums and wires that way if someones wants to see it. The person who tested them on the dyno said the numbers were negligible. Could have just been the dyno.

Thanks. I think I'll propably go with the TR 55IX's just so I don't ever have to mess with them again.

Anyone have good bad experience with the MSD wires?

If that's the case, you might as well go with the GM 41-110, and GM red wires.

www.gmpartshouse.com.......or give Gene a call. Gene has provided many forum members (including myself) with excellent customer service.

Not sure how you jump from and MSD to a lesser wire and an iridium to a platinum but what ever.

The MSD is a better wire and is guaranteed for life vs defects from me. The plugs are a wash although the iridium is more expensive but I offer a better deal on them. You have your choice of red or black with the MSD as well and we offer free 2nd day air delivery in them as well.

Iridium to a platinum? 41-110 are iridium tipped, that's why the gap is still at .040. As far as the wires are concerned, you can push that on others who don't know better (to facilitate the sale)....but you can spare me the BS.

I will never buy anything from you........ever......

LMAO! a better wire is a better wire no matter what you think and I was not trying to sell you a thing.
But with over 10,000 wires made in the past few years I do know a thing or two about spark plug wires.

I'm leaning towards the MSD / AC Delco combo. My C6 Park Plug AC Delco part number is 41-110 right?

FOR $116 SHIPPED! This is GREAT!

Just what I got from you and installed. The 41-110 is the best choice IMHO. Wires were perfect. Thanks.

Lucky is at it again, if you don't agree with him your not of sound mind. I got MSD wires from 99 and they work great. The GM ones are the same wires they use for all their small block engines. My Yukon has the same wires as the vette had in it, metal heat shields and all. MSD wires are known for their low resistance but still not interfering with your radio. Plus you can bend them for maximum clearance if you have headers.

Hooray ! Jim in Mich is in the house A voice of reason, in an unreasonable world. Please note, this post was made 4 months ago, and since then, you have shown me the error of my ways (thank God) ....

Please make your spark plug/wires recommendation, and then I'll PM the mods, so they can make it a sticky!

Guys lets not fight about it. MSD is one of the absolute very best wires on the market.
Superior EMI suppression combined with the lowest loss and the added heat protection of the silicone and the multi-angle functionality has pr oven time and time again to be the best choice. If someone wants to use another wire then that is their prerogative but there isn't a wire on the market at or around the same cost offering the same.
We just happen to combine it with plugs to offer the best deal on the planet.

You'll probably find that AC Delco's are NOT in the engine now.

As for "gimic" plugs, the multi-electrode design is okay if you're looking for a plug that has multiple paths, but remember, the spark will only arc to one electrode at a time, not multiple. A dual electrode would be about the only style I would suggest; found this style in several motorcycle applications and they seem to perform well, but never tested them myself.
I have heard of a plug called "Pulsar" or something. I'm kinda curious about it, but most likely it's a gimic like the rest.

Focus on a plug with a fine electrode, this helps to create a 'concentrated' spark. Using an oscilloscope I have seen fine electrode plugs respond well to a slight increase in gap such as .005-.010" over previous setting without drawing any additional power from the coils, and the pattern was smoother.

Anyways, any plug will work, just get what you're comfortable with.
