My passenger side started grinding for several seconds after closing last night. 2002 with 10,000 miles and very little use on the lights. What ever possesed GM to use plastic gears in a mechanical part that is used a lot?? I am also doing the research on which ones to use and both seem to be a little spendy...Corvette tax??

Doubtful about the Corvette tax as these gears are used in TransAms as well. These gears are well built and worth the $.
To the OP, I went with the brass since it was the only option available at the time. I haven't used them that much but they work like a champ when I have.
Question for those that have installed them......do you have to remove the assembly from the car to change the gear or can you just open the housing with it still in the car? I have a set coming this week because I have a gear grinding as well. Thanks.
