What is the procedure when replacing spark plug wires. Specifically do the fuel rails have to come off and where are the fuel rails located. Is there a distributor cap or individual coils for each cylinder. The service manual isnt very clear about how to gain access to the wires and plugs.
The fuel rail COVERS have to come off. They just snap on and off. Seperate coil for each cyl. I just changed mine yesterday, prepare to bleed getting the old ones off and the new ones on!

Ok, I'm thinking this is a gag....but in the event that it is not......No dizzy on a C5, individual coil packs for each cylinder. While access to #7&8 cylinder is tight, changing plugs on an LS motor is not any different....than any other car.
If it wasn't for the A.I.R. tubes it would be a lot easier on the back cylinders. The stock ones are on TIGHT! No stiches but I did bleed. Be sure to get some dylectric (sp) grease so it's easier to slide the new ones on.

I changed the plugs and wires on my 01 vert last week..search some the posts here they have some good advice that helped me. mine weren't that bad except for rear driver's side. also use some anti-seize on the threads of the plugs. here are a couple links that were helpful for me.
I just finished putting plugs and wires on my 2002.. Not too bad, only one small cut, very little blood... Hardest part was getting the boots to break loose from the plugs..Just turned 100k.. Removed OE wires and Denso plugs.. Replaced with GM Performance Red Wireset and AC 41-110 iridium spark plugs.. Taking the battery shield off made the passenger side a snap!!
Geez...I can't tell if you guys are old school, or just enjoy the pain. There have been remarkable advances in gloves over the last 15 years. I use Gojo Hi Tactile gloves. They are like a second skin, and the palms/fingers are coated with Nitrile, so you have all the dexterity to pick up even the smallest of hardware.
Absolutely no excuse to tear up you hands anymore.....unless you enjoy bragging about your battle scars.
