I just stuck the XSPower catback system on my car. It has a cackling sound I guess I'd call it at idle and is almost silent cruising at 1400rpm (even in 5th at almost 2k rpm it's pretty quiet). If I open a window I can't hear the exhaust at all over the wind noise. But, it comes alive and really begins to bark when I get on it and is pretty loud at WOT.
I'd say the idle and lower speed acceleration is like a Corsa Touring or Pace Car system but a little more raw.
I also got the LT with xpipe and cats XSPower setup but will have to find some time before I get it put on.
Anyone with a GHL system here here has said it has a very muscle car sound and no drone. I was watching for one of those systems used but the XSPower stuff came up on the forum for sale at a good price.

I have a Z06 with LG streets, no cats and a Borla catback. Up until about 5 days ago I had the stock Ti system and had the same problem as you... thought it sounded great at WOT but just needed more sound. I picked up the Borlas used for just a bit over what I can sell the Ti's for and I got exactly the sound I was looking for. Hardly any drone with the 6 speed but I would imagine you will have some amount with the A4 - either way the sound is awesome and stays deep throughout the rev range. Good luck!

Had Borla Stingers with my LG Streets and had to take them off because of autox rules here in San Diego (93db limit). Miss that exhaust note. Had the Ti on there and didn't really like it. Too much kackle is a good word, but I have used tinny.....echo in a tin can kind of thing. Now have Callaway and it is real good too. No drone at all and WOT sounds real good. But I miss the "get the !@#$ out of my way" sound from the Borla at WOT.
What about adding high flow cat converters to the car?? With this remove the kackle? How much will it reduce the sound???
Reason i ask, is that if i add cat converters, and it makes a nice reduction in sound and removes the kackle, then i will be able to put my straight pipes on and be able to deal with them......
I'm still looking for someone who might have something to trade me for my Ti exhaust
You might think about installing some some chambered mufflers in the center tunnel like I did. They are pretty affordable and are available in any diameter you want and 3 different lengths. I am running 3" ID "Powersticks" in the medium length. (20"). we built a set of 3" over axle pipes and are running 3x4" stainless tips out the back with built in resonators. Here is a brief clip:
Come to the Z06Fest in Bowling Green this month and you'll get to hear it in person! It really does sound better than the vid clips .
Track day is at Beech Bend on Friday the 17th.

My 99 Coupe won't be out of the body shop until around September 25th.
I may still take my oldest son up to Bowling Green if my work schedule will allow it.
We'll have to take the Victory Red Z71 Silverado instead though...
like anything esle you mod on your vette, everything is a trade off. I have LG street LT's with high flow cats and initially had them mated to a "straight thru" can style muffler....unbearable drone. I now run Ti's and do wish it was a little louder at lower RPM's, but it's worth it for no drone. LT headers will greatly amplify overall exhaust noise, including drone. If you truly want it loud, better get used to that drone.....
I have never heard a Modded Ti in person, but I'd sure like to....
Just put some Dynomat in the rear of the car and the droning stops. My car used to kill my ears and now it sounds quiet inside with no drone and still obviously sounds the same outside.

Official dates are Sep 16, 17, 18. Most of us show up and start partying on Wednesday the 15th. Makers Mark WART run is Thursday morning, Drag racing at Beech Bend Friday morning and Auto-X at Trace Die-Cast parking lot on Saturday morning. Partying every night out in front of the Baymont! Since you're only 1.5hrs away at least come up to hang out! You'll get to see quite a few nicely modded C5 and C6 Z's and hang out with all of us nutcases!

I'll try to make an appearance. Work thinks it owns us this time of year.
If nothing else, I'll try to make a Saturday visit. The autox sounds interesting.
You may want to install a set of high flow cats. If you are catless then they should fix your drone problem if you are already running Ti exhaust.
This is a great idea. I did it to quiet down my Corsas, and they did;just the right amount, not too much. As previously said, the Ti-bypass works great to increase sound.
