Just bought my 2004 convert, and have not yet purchased the repair manual. Need to replace the oil pressure switch, however, can't locate it. Please help. Thanks
Bigger job than I thought, having to remove the intake to get to it! Thanks for the removal instructions, I'm guessing a new manifold gasket will be needed.
also need to replace that sensor, post how it goes if you don't mind and if it fixes it, my guage is pegged at 80 since i got it, read it's a common issue

You don't have to wait, do a search, and read for hours.
You may want to check under your wiper cowl and see if it has been changed before via the cutting method.
But when you change it do yourself a favor and seal it with heat shrink and silicone.
because
I think I figured what is causing some of the units to fail.
Moisture.
When I changed mine I had the cowl off and it had been changed before by the cutting method.
I left to cowl at the shop to paint and it rained and my new sender went crazy.
Advance swapped it out and it was fine but I could not help but spray some water down on it and bam it jumps up and pegs the needle.
I swapped it again but this time I used heat shrink tubing and silicone to seal the connections and soaked it with water and it worked fine.
That was almost a year ago and well over 30,000 miles. (my car has 229,500 on it now and is a daily driver.
The sensor on it now is one of the cheap pot metal looking ones from auto-zone.
I would suggest anyone that changes them to be sure and waterproof it.

Here is a poor video that I made. It is not only possible to do it with the manifold on, but easy. Hardest part is unlatching the plug.
If I were you I would do a relocation of the sensor. Of all the fixes I have read about on the forum, the relocation seems to be the one that has no further problems. You will need to remove the intake but it's really not that hard.
When I replaced my sender (cowl hole method), I used an older Buick brass sender because I could only find the pot metal ones at that time. Also had to use a thread adapter (brass) which raised it slightly but that did not cause any problems. My engine runs 48 lbs. pressure at idle and 65-70 at hwy. speed, been in for 1 1/2 years with no problems. The Buick sender was cheap most likely because of no "Corvette Tax". Didn't choose it because of price, chose it because it was brass.
Looks easy enough! How did you get the plug back on the sensor?
Thanks,
jim
I was able to get on using my fingers. You can use a pair of long needle nose pliers if you need to. The hardest part is getting the plug off, depending where the clip is.
