thank you. i was just wondering bc i have only owned it for just over 3 weeks. and every time i have had the a/c on and temp shows around 220. i turn the a/c off when i get in the neighborhood and roll the window down so my wife dog can stick her head out the window. when i got home just before i turn the car off. noticed the temp in the 230's..
will wash out the radiator out this week. thank you...
My stock 98 ran at 220-230. I washed the radiator out with the water hose and the temps dropped to around 200 on a hot day. The cooling fins catch tons of sand and rocks.
I had a problem similar to that. Looked at rad & condenser and looked clean, jacked it up and blew it out with air compresor and you would not believe the grass and dirt I blew out. It runs 194 on hwy and never gets over 207 in slow traffic. Doesn't stay at 207 very long and it is HOT in east texas.
what about oil temps? i'm guessing they are around the same, although i would think the coolant should cool better/faster than oil....?
EDIT: curious about typical oil pressures, as well... Mine seem exceptionally high at startup and the first 10-15 miles... usually around 55-65 psi under easy driving (less than 3k RPMs). is this just because the oil is colder and thicker...? once the oil temp hits around 200-210, the pressure needle is usually straight up (isnt that 40 psi? dont remember...)
