Default Air-Jack

http://www.air-jack.dk/air_eng.htm

I happened to stumble upon this and thought it may prove interesting to others who are currently running a lowered C5 without run-flats.
Does anyone know if these are sold in the US? And how flat they may be while deflated?
I know that in case of a flat I'm not going to get a regular jack under to service the car and with what I have on the front and being as low as it is....a tow truck and or flat bed aint-a-gonna work. :nopity

Oldvetter, I don't see how an air bag could hurt the body. Please explain. Thanks.

The logic of it is good i.e. putting a low profile jack mechanism to lift a lowered car......but using your exhaust??? It's like putting 4 potatoes on my Vette's exhaust pipes! I rather use a portable compressor, or better yet, pump it up with a foot pump to get my exercise.

C5Chris...this may work better for those of us that have 2 exhaust tips not 4.
Good point.

I saw something like that about 20 years ago.

Used to be sold in the US on TV and in car mags.
They stoped because of legal issues involving personal
injury risk. Other types of jacks that "lock". These do
not. They do have a "valve" that can be closed, but if
they puncture on a sharp part of the body or frame
they come down VERY fast. Also the bag is left filled
with dangerous exhaust fumes and the exhaust
pipe is hot (possible burn hazard).

But you are right it would be an interesting item. The best
part of this type of jack is that it molds itself to the contours
of the item being lifted and the force is very evenly distributed.

I don't see how you could use it on a car with dual/dual exhausts.
Aftermarket or C4 style tips would be impossible.

You could power it with a portable air compresser, but the deflation
risk is still there. If it punctured, it would be down INSTANTLY, before
you realized it. Your first thought would be: So thats what a brake
rotor sticking through someones leg looks like.

Also because it is a compressed gas it will move up and down as
weight is added or removed from the vehicle. When you pull a 50lb
wheel off. The car will move up slightly and when you put it back on
the car will go down slightly.

Not good...
