Hey all,
I am curious about something.
The other day my GF and I were enjoying a nice ride in the Vette and the radio was down. This is went I could hear a ticking sound coming from my engine. Now I am pretty sure it is the ticking of the lifters and such, but just seemed to me to be a little excessive (loud).
So I am curious if this is right?
(no codes are in the system)
Also understand that my car is maggie charged with an LS6 CAM, Morley Hardened Push Rods and a Dual Chain
Also, if this is normal is there anything that can be done to fix it and make it more quiet?

Did you just buy this car? You state that the noise seemed "excessive", which suggests that something has changed. The last thing you want to do is mask the problem. Use a stethoscope, and isolate the noise. You may have something as simple as a broken valve spring, but you need to figure it out before driving the car.
LS engines - especially those with aftermarket cams and springs can be kinda noisy...more apparent with long tube headers!
I really hear it when driving near a guardrail as the sound bounces off and back to the vehicle.
Have a shop check it out to be safe.
Ok, I have a feeling ALVETTE just described my issue. Though this car is far from new to me, I just never really paid attention before (either stereo blasting or the top off).
And my car does have long tube headers on it too.
Given I will probably be bring it in to have a look over.
So, then the next part of my question is "is there anything that can be done to quiet this down"

I've heard some of the guys on the forum say that using a different type of motor oil can make it less noisy but that's just hear say. They said using Mobil 1 5W 30 helps but I don't really know cause I haven't tried it myself. If anyone else has any info on that please correct me or chime in. I have a Z06 with a nice cam and long tubes so mine is like a sewing machine. I just deal with it.
