I just removed the factory fog light covers and wanted to install some Z06 screens I purchased from my local dealer, yet there are no holes in the body to match the screens. Are there clips or hardware that I am missing? I really do not want to use tape or velcro.
I was also apprehensive about how well this would work, but I took the advice of the experienced members of the forum and went for it.
It came out great. Those screens are going nowhere, and it honestly looks and feels like it was done at the factory. There is absolutely no indication that it is just Velcro holding them in. In fact, I’m afraid I wont ever be able to get them out.
I used gratuitous amounts of industrial strength Velcro from home depot. The trick is using some type of wax paper or plastic to slide screens in after all of the Velcro is in place (this allows you to position the screens without the Velcro hanging you up). You then just slide out the plastic and have a beer.
I now realize that any other method of installation would have been a major PITA. Access in that area is extremely limited.
Re: Hardware to install Z06 screens? (The Black Knight)
I just got screens also and posted request for install instructions with velcro.
the wax paper is the secret to the install.
Of course I read a post last night about someone who dropped his C5 off @ the bodyshop and said install these please. $800 dollars latter they were installed.
Gotta use some common sense here. Velcro is the way to go unless you would rather remove the front bumper, put them on, and then replace the front fascia.
On the plastic part of the grill in the back where nothing can be seen. During the installation, you are working from the back of grill openings under the car. Gotta get the brake ducts out of the way and etc. The clips sandwich the fender lip area of the grill opening and the grill ledge together. Be careful when putting on the clips; they are hard to get off once they are on! They can be pried off with a screwdriver. :chevy
