Well, it wasn't a performance mod but it was something that I wanted.
I installed a homelink unit in my sunvisor. I found the unit for 12 bucks on ebay, took me about 30 minutes to open it up, solder together the wires and test it out to make sure it worked. A local upholsterer sewed it back together for 10 bucks. It seriously looks like it was meant to be there. The only glitch was that the DIY on digitalvettes had the wires crossed.

Looks like something I need to do on my 2000. Can you give some more details on brand, model #, etc. Thanks.
It’s installed upside-down so you’re going have to take it apart and do it again.
OH NO!!!
It's funny that you mention that. Actually a lot of thought went into the orientation. I wanted it on the passenger side and since the top is almost always down, when the visor is up, the homelink unit is right side up, facing the interior of the car, then when I press the button, the visor presses up against the car's roofline and doesn't move.

I got the unit off of ebay. I searched for homelink sunvisor. This one came off of a Nissan altima. The visor was trashed but I didn't need that. Paid 11.95 plus 3 bucks shipping. The only thing you need to watch for is if your garage door opener uses rolling codes for security. They have homelink units that support rolling codes and some that don't. I had an old garage door opener so I didn't worry about it. There are some sales of just the homelink unit on ebay and it will tell you whether it is rolling codes or not.
Then I followed the DIY on digitalvettes.com. Remember that the white wire isn't the ground.
Did mine a few years ago, great mod! If your garage door opener supports rolling codes, then the homelink with the "house" icon is for rolling codes, the NON rolling code homelink has a triangle engraved, just an FYI

Did not know that. Good bit of information for others looking to do it.
One difference between my homelink and the one shown in digitalvettes was that mine had a long flat antenna that I didn't see in the DIY. I must say that the range is LONG!!!
