Have had the New GM transfer and tranny fluid in my car for 2+ months. Im wondering if i maybe put a little too much in the tranny. I dont have a whine nor does it feel funny.....unless its a high rpm shift. Seems 4k rpm+ wants to get a little notchy but no whine of any kind. I dont know if its bc of the change or maybe the simple fact that there may be too much fluid. Driving around town it shifts great. Any thoughts?
ZZ06 - pls describe the whine you mention in more detail - I may have the same condition and I'm trying to better understand it. Tks.
honestly i didnt think you could but it was my first time doing so and i was paranoid about losing fluid so i quickly put in the plug long before it became a drip. I just wanted somones info who has done this multiple times.

i dont have a whine. It just seems to get a little bit notchy. I havent had the time to go out and really smash on her and she is about to go back under the chopping block with my cam install. It will be a few weeks before i can report back.
After listening to everyones view I've decided to go with Penzoil syncromesh in the tranny and Mobil 1 synthetic 75W-90 gear oil in the differencial. I got 44K on the car and don't believe it's been changed before. No issues but want to keep it smooth. Thanks to everyone on their input. I'm getting smarter everytime I log on. One question though, what is a M6 tranny?
I don't drive the car much in the cold months, but I put in Syncromesh last fall. After living with it for the winter and spring, I am going back to the GM 88861800. When it is really warm the Synchromesh is ok, but unless it is over 75 degrees the shifting is very notchy and not smooth at all. If it is always warm where you are it's ok, but if you have a good bit of the year below 75 degrees the Synchromesh is a real PITA. I can feel the dogs engaging and sometimes get a graunch in shifts to third if it is cold. Lots worse than with the OE fluid.
I think that the Synchromesh is thicker and it doesn't let they synchros work unless it gets warm.
