Default Headlight Problem - No lights

Hey guys,

I have been reading and searching the forums for a solution to a problem I am having and have had no success. I have a 2004 covertible, and when I turn the lights on, both lights pop up and turn on for a few moments and then the lights turn off but stay up. I turn the switch off and the lights drop down as normal. I turn the lights back on and they pop up as normal but no light. I have checked and the bulbs are good. Any ideas or futher troubling shooting techniques would be helpful.

I do have the twilight sensor, and I have gone through the DIC and activated the feature with the same result, headlights pop up with no lights. I should also mention that the fogs lights, parking lights and day time runiing lights turn on and off without any issues.

Just to add, I have tested the high beams and they are working.

I would start by checking for 12 volts at fuses #8 and #10 (in the underhood fuse box) with the headlight switch on. If that's good, then check for 12 volts and ground at the low beam connectors. You need to find what is dropping....12 volts or ground.
I have done what you suggested and disconnected the wiring harnesses (gray connector located on the wheel well) and tested with the following results;

SWITCH ON - 12 volts between the ground wire (Black) and power wire (Tan (right side)/ Green (left side).

SWITCH OFF - Measured voltage at 8.9 volts between same wires mentioned above.

I then reconnected the left side (drivers) wiring harness and re-measured the voltages at the right side and found the following;

SWITCH ON - 12 volts between black wire and tan wire

SWITCH OFF - 0 volts between black wire and tan wire

I then tested for voltage at the bulb connection and found the same results 12 volts when switch on and 0 volts when switch off. So, to rule out any bulb issue I replaced them with new ones and still nothing.

I also tested from the ground wires to the battery post for both sides and got 0 volts on negative post and 12 volts on positive post.

If anyone has any further suggestions it would be very helpful.
