Default Adding Diff oil

Because of the typical C5 left side diff leak I need to check the fluid in my month old (to me) 2002. I picked up oil to top it off with today (if needed). I did not pay enough attention when I looked under the car to diagnose the leak to notice that the check plug has a hex indent rather than being a bolt head. Now I need to stop by a parts store or somewhere tomorrow and buy a set or at least one hex wrench. Does someone know the actual size of the check hole plug in the event I can buy just one to fit? Also one more thing... I am correct that the factory oil in a 2002 is NOT synthetic? This winter I will change the fluid and or fix the leak but just don't have time now so will just monitor it.
Thanks in advance for the help.
Mike

3/8" or a 10 mm, is the size you will need to remove the diff fill & drain plug.
You have a vast array of diff fluid to choose from, be it synthetic or otherwise. Good luck.

..redline, amsoil or mobil 1 LS if you don't want to run the additive. 75W90 and if you want to use the additive get whatever you want and then you need the GM limited slip friction modifier if you can find a dealer that still has some

Hi There,
You didn't fill out your profile. For 2001- 04 models a t-55 torx is correct one to use.

Thanks for all of the information. I bought a T-55 as suggested which was indeed the correct fit. I guess I was over cautious about the rear diff maybe being low. Lately it has been leaking a bit so I feel better having checked it. I found it to be only 4 oz. low. I topped it off and now can keep an eye on the floor for the quantity of the leak without worrying that I am driving it low. Since the car is new to me I did not know how long it had been leaking and the previous owner said that he had never checked it. Thanks again.

Hi There Buggyman,
I don't know if this beyond your skills or not but should be helpful to you.Do a forum search type: leaky butt ga zillion photos. I would fix this asap. Not something to keep an eye on.
