Default automatic transmission problem :(

hi guys..
suddenly I had this problem..
I ran the engine of my 99 C5 .. everything was perfect..
I shifted from P to D and moved with 20 mph
up to now no problem..
but when I had decided to increase the speed to 60 mph suddenly there was a noise (just like when you shift to N and give some gas to the engine) and the RPM was almost 5 and the car was not moving..
I stopped and then shifted to 1, it started to move smoothly and normally..
then shifted to 2 and then 3 and then 4..
there was no problem when I shift from 1 to 4 gradully..
but when I shifted to D while the speed is 0 mph, the car is not moving..
BTW, I had new clutches kit and transgo in my corvette 4 months ago..

please..
tell me what is going on??

I would take the car back to the people who did the transmission work.

You may have broken the low roller and/or the Low-Reverse Clutch Support. When you place the shifter in Manual low you override the low roller with the low/rev. clutch pack. That is why you can only move from a dead stop in M1 than shift manually to 2nd, 3rd & 4th. Seemingly ok. When you stop completely with out moving the shifter. It seems like Neutral until you do it all over again. I can't think of any thing minor to cause that symptom.

In addition I felt noisy click just before it seems like Neutral. I may have broken something..

is it easy to fix? do I need to have a new clutch kit?

I can't think of any minor cause of this problem! Meaning the transmission will have to come out of the car for repairs. It will need to be disassembled and inspected for needed repairs/parts required! It will more than likely have hard part damage that will need to be corrected. Plus all the debris must be cleaned out of the Trans & Oil Cooler.

It is hard to judge how much slip you are getting. The first thing I would do is check the trans fluid level.

Note of caution: The trans fluid temperaure MUST be between 86 degrees F and 122 degrees F when you check the level. After my H/C install I developed a slip. I checked the fluid level (fluid temp was 170 degrees) and it was running out of the of the check orfice. i.e. full.

I waited 4 hours until the fluid temp was in the proper range. At that time I was able to add an additional 22 oz. of ATF. After that, no more slipping.

I hope that is your problem.

give the guys at RPM a call. They not only sell the best built A4's but they can give you some good suggestions as to the source of your problem. Good luck
