I can't tell if it is the cover or axle seals but I think I should give the car to someone who knows what they are doing. I replaced ten ounces of gear oil to full. Anyone have any info thanks
Very common issue. Sometimes it will be that its venting oil out of the vent. But most of the time its the drivers side seal. given the amount of oil you replaced, I'd guess the later.
Common problem on the left side. There was service bulletin (#03-04-20-006) issued covering all 1997 to 2004 models. Mine leaked and had to be repaired and it only had 12,000 miles one it.
The axle seals aren't that hard to replace yourself and not very expensive. I think I paid about $30 each at the local dealer but I'm sure Gene could hook you up if you aren't in a hurry.
Remove sway bar endlinks.
Remove the upper control arm bolts.
Remove upper shock mount bolts.
This will allow you to remove the axles from the rear diff and replace the seals. I bought a seal puller from Harbor Freight for < $10.
