Key FOB Receiver vs. Key FOB - How can I diagnose the problem???
My key fob had not been working. When I went to use the second key fob, it was missing one of the contacts ... the piece of metal inside the fob. At any rate, I cannot get either FOB to work. How can I test the receiver? How can I test the both FOBs?
Thanks,
Eric

Is your TPM (tire pressure monitoring system) working OK?
It is the same receiver...

Have you attempted to learn either/both of the fobs? Probably more important to learn the first [nothing known to be broken] one.

I have tried both procedures for relearn. I even tried to fix the one with the missing piece inside by taking that piece out of the one that I had been using.

Please don't hate me for asking this [it's just usually the way most of my major problems are resolved], are you sure of both the FOB battery condition and orientation? If yes, it sounds more like a FOB defect [really only one being as the "second" unit had physical damage].

Bring your FOB to your local Chevy dealer. They have a pad they place it on to see if it is working. Mine wasn't :cry

I had a problem with both of my fob's. They would lose contact with the battery. I bent the contact to increase it's pressure against the battery and it solved my dead fob problem.

If you reprogram your fob and it works for a while and then quits it is probably the recieving unit. that is what mine did. The tires registered just fine. After the dealer replaced the recieving unit all was fine.
