Dash lights blinking like a stobe light...please help!

Dash lights blinking like a stobe light...please help!
Hi...
Weird problem just started today on my 98 6-speed...when driving, or even when I simply turn the ignition key to the on position, all the interior dash lights, clock, radio numbers, etc. blink constantly and quickly...not quite as fast as a strobe light, but pretty fast. A clicking noise can be heard inside the car at the same time.
When I turn either the parking lights or the full headlights on, it totally goes away and the dash lights are back to normal. Car starts OK once turned off, and once it's turned off, all the lights go off normally.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!

Check for codes first, if not it could be the contacts inside the multi function switch?
I'd check the codes first and wait for someone else to post up before you tear in the multi function switch.

I agree too with the multifunction switch. There is a possibility that the BCM is having issues though therefore is there any evidence of water on, in or around it? As 00Corvette asked, codes?

Good call, check up under the passenger side floor mat...there is a little panel that pops out and you'll be able to see the fuse box and BCM, make sure there is ZERO water or condensation in that area
