I am looking for advice on which route to go for brake upgrades. I am considering getting the c6 z06 brake kit which has both front and rear brakes or going with the baer extreme plus front kit only. Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you're going for track use, price the pads & check availability from a few manufacturers. I think for recurring cost & performance, the C6Z brakes are not very good. I would not consider them from a performance standpoint.

I am really only doing street driving, i think i will stay with the stockers for now. Brakes are something i have been thinking about but probably unnecessary for what i use it for.

The stock C5 brakes are very good on the street and not all that bad on the track. The consumables for the C6Z brakes are expensive. The OEM brake pad kit for the front runs about $280 through the forum discount vendors. Rotors run around $85.

Better rotors, SS lines and Hawk HPS pads will make you happy on the street. C6Z06 brakes are fine on the street too but much more expensive as already stated, probably the bling factor you may be wanting?
Your biggest consideration in any big brake upgrade for the C5 is wheels. I just went through this. No cheap way to do it. Budget a minimum of $2k on top of the brakes if doing front and rear.
I agree that for street use, lines, pads and fluids is more than adequate.

I respectfully disagree. C6Z brakes are a great alternative to the Stoptechs, Brembos etc. At a quarter of the price, you have 3/4 of the performance.
I have them on my '98 coupe with DRM ducts and Hawk DTC 70s. I have gone from cracking rotors at the end of every event with OEM set up to no issues or fading at all.
Hey thanks guys for the advice i think i will just upgrade my stock brakes. As far as wheels i am already running some iforged swifts with 19's on the front and 20's on the back so i think fitment wont be a concern if at some point i go for a big brake kit. I think my next project will be a new clutch, the money will be better spent there.
