A/c idler pulley replacement.
I have a 99 corvette. I had a horrible tapping noise from the a/c idler pulley. So I replaced it. The idler pulley had 2 of those big washer looking things on the front. now my question am I supposed to have 2 on the front of that pulley? never seen that before so I only put the 1 back on. should i put the second one on?

If you used AC Delco pulley, no. The new bearing is sealed. In fact, on some pulleys if you put back both washers it locks the pulley and makes a MUCH worse noise (for a short time).

I just replaced mine and I put the new pulley back on with one washer on each side, making a note to put them on the way they came off. No more noise!
The tensioner, that's another story....inexpensive parts, but lots of money to the cuss jar!!!!

My A/C idler if off.....is the verdict small washers on each side which have the same ID hole size to fit over the block arbor and then discard the splash shields? The shield don't allow the pulley to turn correctly when bolted up.
