Lowering nightmare - ball joint question
Hey all. I'm in the process of cutting the ride height adjusters on the front of my 02 Z51 to get it lower to the ground.
When undoing the lower ball joint nuts I managed to strip the Allen key portion. The nuts were rusted in to place. Now the nuts are stuck half way off the ball joint, and will absolutely not budge.
I'm going to have to replace both lower ball joints. My local parts guy tells me that the ball joints aren't sold by themselves, and I have to buy the entire lower control arms, which include the ball joints.
Is this true? Any alternatives? Help!!!

Run a strap over the upright and down to your floor jack. Press the stud up into the upright with the jack hard enough it sticks in the taper and allows you to remove or re-tighten the nuts.
Rock Auto lists ball joints online. From there, you can likely also find other cross referenced part numbers.
