ebcm problems

I was recently rear ended at a red light, since then my service traction sontrol, service abs, ans service active handeling lights are on all the time, i was told the ebcm needs replaced, but that it had nothing to do with being hit. Could the ebcm have been damaged in the wreck from the jolt of being hit??

I guess it could have, but I doubt it. EBCM failure is pretty common on these cars. DO NOT PAY FOR A NEW ONE! Call Brandon (absfixer.com) and tell him your year and model and ask him if he can repair it. He does good work and offers a warranty. Pulling the EBCM off the car isn't a big deal, and you can drive while it's off (you just won't have abs, traction control or active handling so drive carefully). Good luck.

i have the same problem but no scanner will communicate with the ebcm. Replace it?

not until ...

don't replace that EBCM until you post your codes...the procedure is in the previous post#3...the code(s) you get will tell us where the problem is...it may not be the EBCM..

Depends on the year of the car. If you have a '97 to early '98 the EBCM is located in the rear of the car and could easily have been damaged in a rear end collision. As others have said you need to pull your codes on the DIC to see where the problem lies. It could be many things, some as simple as a wheel speed sensor.

If your car is a '97-'00 the EBCM can not be rebuilt and there are no new or remanufactered units available. You would need to find a used one if it requires replacement.

the car is a 2001, and the dealership has already replaced the ebcm, and now the insurance co. is stating that there is no relation to the accident and the ebcm, just seems odd to me that they happened at the same time..
