Default Hvac showing negative numbers

I own a c5 1999 the ac works 90% of the time, when it doesn't the ac light flashes and the hvac control shows negative numbers one time it counted from -30 to 2, once the car has been sitting off the ac will start working again this happens about once a week.

I bought a can of freeon 134a that has a gauge to check the pressure of the system it was reading low but acceptable, I charged it up to the highest acceptable pressure but i still have the problem. Any suggestions?

More then likely your external temp sensor needs repalced. When it's too cold outside the AC won't be allowed to come on...

BO333 is the outside temp sensor
BO365 /BO367/BO446 reference the R side actuator
I would suggest you replace the outside sensor first (the least expensive part),
then check codes again after you reset them.

Even thought the part is cheap, troubleshoot first. It's very common for that connector to become corroded. Inspect the connector closed for corrosion, and make sure you have a good ground, and 5 volts.

True, I guess my thought process always skips over that part as I would always check the part and connections first before I run out and get a new one.

When I got the car 3 weeks ago I checked under the front bumper and saw a loose connector on that side the fog light was out also I assumed that connector went to the foglight maybe a previous owner disconnected the sensor to get the ac to work.

I will know shortly I am chauffeuring the wife around to garage sales right now.
