I am trying to get the F45 option deleted and have printed out all of the threads here on the forum. The stopforce.com site is no longer up so part of the directions may be missing, but we did get to the F45 option showing on the screen but it would not let them delete it -- them being Fermin Chevy in Brandon (Tampa) Florida.
Anyone still have all of the stopforce directions or know of any shop in the Tampa area that has successfully been able to delete this option in a 98 C5?? I keep bumping into the 80 mph limit and in my mind, it is a dangerous situation!!
I had the insrtructions from #6, but they did not work according to the tech. When they got to deleting the option, nothing happened. I was wondering if there is somehting in the stopforce.com instructions that didn't get translated into these posts and since it is no longer a good link, was just hoping someone had them written down. Looks like a set of simulators may be in my futre? ;-))
You DO NOT need anything turned off, removed, retuned or modified. You need 4 10 ohm 10 watt wire wound resistors ( from radio shack) to solder in to the wires that go to the top of the old F45 shocks. Solder them in , zip tie them to the chassis out of the way and install the new shocks That's it.Garanteed.
This is the steps I have used when deleting the F45 option
1) Drive to dealership or shop that has a Tech 2, shut car off
2) Unplug the RTD module in the driver's side rear luggage compartment
3) Hook up the Tech 2 (don't turn the ignition on!)
4) Get to the BCM reprogram screen and put "X"s to the right of the RPO codes you want. You don't want the F45.
5) Reprogram the BCM. This happens pretty much instantaneously when you leave the BCM reprogram screen. There is no confirmation of anything happening.
6) Stick your key in the ignition, turn it on, and verify you don't have ride control errors coming up.
7) Enjoy not having the F45.

Thankws, I'll get the shop to try these steps and see what happens. I think he was expecting some sort of response from the computer, but we'll see
My Tuner just De-tuned my F45 option. I unplugged the computer in the trunk, driver side compatment. Then with the tech II, he went into, I believe, the BCM and deleted the ride dampening (F45) option.
No problems since, I can now roll over 80mph! YAY!!!
I appreciaste everyone's help, but I think I have found a different solution -- part this sucker out! We have tried with a couple of different computer tech guys and have been unable to delete the option. Then we found a set of simulators in a friend of a friend's shop from a project donor car and replaced the ride contriol module, but now it still says we have a communication error so all of the warnings -- and the 80 mph limit -- are still there. Back to it on Monday!
