I recently bought a 02 with 4800 miles on it. the signals worked then, after a rain storm , which I got caught in, they worked periodically. the only way I can get them to work is turn the flashers on then the turn signal then shut the flashers off. This will solve the problem for a while then I have to do the same over again. Garage is dumbfounded. I have talked to a few C5 owners and they have the same problem, that is how I found out the temporary solution.
The turn signals flash via the hazard switch, which when it starts to go bad gives you the issue you are having. Lots of past threads about it. Try searching. You can replace the hazard switch, try to repair it (there are a few threads on some methods to do so) or buy a bypass module (there is also a DIY thread on how to make one). Common problem.
John, I highly recommend that you do yourself a favor and simply install the flasher bi-pass cable. Takes about 30 minutes and will cost 60 bucks or so and your problem will be a thing of the past. Best of all, it remains a thing of the past too!!

holy crap! im having the same problem. i did the 4way flasher trick too lol.
by passed the flasher - no problems - easy under dash deal with a couple of wire snips and installing an inexpensive flasher solved everything - doesn't make the "click - click" sound now but that is no big deal.
