Battery went dead. Jumped car off and drove it for awhile but getting service column lock message. Car starts and runs fine. But I have to keep clearing the CL message in order to see the other displays. Cant figure this one out.
Already have CLB bypass installed. This didnt happen until the battery went dead
???
Low voltage will cause this. Either charge your battery or replace it if it won't hold a full charge.
A 12-volt battery will measure at about 12.9 volts when it’s fully charged and about 11.4 volts when it is fully discharged. Measure with a voltmeter across the battery (your voltage gauge will not read this).
I disconnected the neg terminal from the battery and then reconnect it. The message "service column lock" is now gone and has not come back on.
I will ckeck the health on my battery ( Optima Redtop) and see if I need a new one.
A load test is the only real way to check a battery. Most auto stores will do one for free.
When I checked my old AGM Battery (Exide Orbital) it was at only 295 CA. With a C5 you can tell if your battery is going bad, you will lose your DIC settings when cranking voltage falls under 9 volts. By that, I mean if you have your DIC set to display "instantaneous mileage", it will default to trip odometer when you start the car.
Battery was bad. Found anothr Red Top at NAPA Auto parts for 135.00. Replaced it.
Before its too late, take it back and get a Yellow Top so you don't have the problem again. The Red Top isn't enough for the C5 Specs. You need 120 reserve, not 100. Just my advice from having the Red Top issues
