Default Bad day at the track.....

So I went to the track and made a couple good runs when suddenly after launching my tranny seemed like it just popped out of gear into neutral. I then realized that all I had was neutral no matter what gear I chose. So I took the rear of the car apart and pulled the entire drivetrain out and quickly noticed my differential was kinda flopping around back there. Well it cracked the housing pretty much in half and also the rear of the tranny housing, consequently it also completely sheared off the output shaft of the tranny.

So I have been looking around trying to find a new diff but most places want a core and obviously my core probably wont work for that and I cant find any info on the rear of the tranny housing for replacing just the back part that unbolts.

Anybody else ever have this problem? I would really appreciate some advice on the best course of action to take. I saw some diffs on ebay but none were from a Z06 so the gears werent the same but I was thinking I could get one and just use the case and the innards of mine. Any thoughts on this idea?

Thanks in advance.

There are allways some one here on the forum that has a Z tranny & rear diff, for sale.

Keep an eye out.

Sounds as though you were in some serious wheel hopping?

May want to look into getting a diff/trany brace. DTE & ECS, has them for our cars.

Drag racing can become very expensive, with these C/5 cars.

You may try Corvette recylers.Or post a WTB in the parts section. It sure sounds like severe wheel hop to me.Best address that issue before you go back to the track!

Thanks, the strange thing is...I didnt have any wheel hop. Ive actually never had any wheel hop, maybe because I always run drag radials. I think Im gonna try to rebuild the tranny and try to get a new rear housing from GM, hopefully I can find a diff though. But I am definitly getting that brace.
