I recently got some great advice from you guys on a cooling problem I had with my 2003 vette. Cleaned up bad ground on the fan wires to get fans running properly, tested thermostat to be sure it was working correctly, it passed the test five times. Went for three rides, first two everything was great, good temps, the third ride was not good, while crusing on a country road about 40 mpg the temp went up to 235 degrees, started home with the temp going no higher, got home both fans where running on high speed but it stayed hot.
The only thing I could think of was the thernostat had to be doing this, went to purchase new and found most if not all where made in other countrys like China, got some advice from a mechanic friend to but AC Delco, ordered it from my local speed shop as it was 20 bucks cheaper than Chevy wanted for it. The AC Delco is made in Mexico but hopefully GM has very tight QA on parts from Mexico.
Installed the thermostat and went for several rides, the temps are perfect now, the new therm is the same temp range as the old one 86c to 100c. The thing I wanted to show is even though you test the thermostat on the bench doesn't mean it's ok, the therm had to be closing on it's own as I was driving.

I tested a friends starter several times on a an older Honda, and it always tested good, but still had issues. Switched it out and the issues went away.
