Wouldn't hurt to try. See if RPM's change or engine runs smoother or rougher. Reason I say this is the car is 7 plus years old with low mileage. This means it sat idle for quite a bit of it's life. I've seen injectors stick in those situations. Causes exactly the symptoms you describe. The engine computer can monitor the coil circuit to determine if it is present in the circuit of if it fires. Also knock sensors can pickup preignition. The computer fires the injector but has no way to now if fuel or the expected amount of fuel was sprayed. It's only feedback is the oxygen sensors. You say no check engine light, does the CEL come on when you turn the key to start the car?
Car has Svo injectors, cel does come on when u turn it on
So I took it to Corvette paramedics turns out the car is tuned in open loop thus why I did not get a code.
They said its a Ignition issue so I pulled the plugs
And they are the stock ac delco. Threads are covered in oil. Replaced with tr55 I had left over from my ls1 240sx and now I have less stuttering but backfires more often now.
I made a appointment for Wednesday was hoping I could fix it before then
Something doesn't look right with the gap. Backfiring means fuel is not igniting in the combustion chamber and igniting when it hits the hot exhaust. That could be misfire or burnt valves.
If all you had on the car beyond factory is a cam the factory coils should have been fine, especially on a car with only 15K on it. Until you start adding forced induction I'd stick with the well engineered OEM parts.
