Just picked up a used fast 90 intake, but the paint job on the intake is terrible so I would like to strip it, what would be the best way.I know that this is a multi piece intake are the sections glued together or just bolted. Thanks for all your help in advance.
I had my FAST 92 intake powder coated black. It has lasted almost 2 years now, and still looks great. You might want to consider sending it to Mike the Powder Coater!
I wouldn't take it apart, may harm the silicone gasket and cause a leak.
Degrease it and tape it off to paint. I did one with "Bar-B-Q Black" high temp flat black paint for bar b q's and it turned out great, looked like it belonged in the engine bay compared to the plastic look.
I bought my FAST intake used. The knuckehead before me didn't use the FAST rubber gaskets to seal it. Instead, he used bright orange RTV silicone. It was a pain in the *** to separate and clean. Assuming you didn't buy from the same guy, go ahead and disassemble it. It's easy to put back together and (if necessary) replacement gaskets aren't all that expensive. Mike @ Eastcoast Performance bent over backwards to get me the gaskets and hardware I needed right away.
