Default Rod Knocking?

Here's the setup: Stock 2001, 133k miles (not a garage queen). Car was running fine. Stopped for gas and afterwards, it wouldn't start. Good battery, but no crank, no push start. Had it towed home on a flatbed.

Pulled codes and got the Passkey code (B2723). On my kids F-bodies, I had the same issue, and was able to bypass the pellet with a resistor of the same value, so I tried this with the Vette. Started right up, but now there is a knocking that sounds like a rod. Was not knocking before the tow. Oil pressure is at 50+ pounds. Could the tow have caused an issue, or is it just coincidence?

Sounds like just a coincidence to me. Sorry about your problems!

I had what was thought to be a rod knock on my highly modified engine. Took the valve covers off and found it to be just a couple of broken rockers.

Hi There,
I don't think it was a coincidence.Jack it up & look under it for signs of frame damage, tie rods bent, oil pan damage. Check the 4 black plastic links for being broken.Make sure all the wheels rotate freely.Have you checked the oil level?Your oil pressure seems a little high. I run 44 to 46 psi,but do not have nearly the miles you do. Probably thats normal for a car with 133k on the clock.

Thanks for the replies. So I'm thinking that with 133k miles, I should go ahead and replace all of the rod bearings, wrist pin bushings, and timing chain. What about mains? Can I do this without removing the engine from the car?

Drop in a crate LS6 for around $5k and never look back.

Cranked it about 2 hours ago and the knock is gone. I am thinking that pulling it up the ramp on the flatbed may have pushed the oil over a baffle or something. Sitting overnight corrected the issue. Just went for a 30 minute drive and no issues. Everything looks and sounds OK.

Next - Tackle the C1214 code - Traction Control Module

Thanks for the replies.
