Default Anyone with NEW FLP Header kit - I need help

I think my extension pipes (the pipes with the o2 sensor holes) are built wrong. I need to know the measured distance between the flared end and the sensor hole. They seem to be too far back and I don't have enough slack in my o2 sensors to reach the holes.

I was on schedule to have these dang things in and complete in one afternoon! :cry

That was my initial feeling as well. No one mentioned having to splice and extend the wires. After a good night sleep I realized I could break loose the clip on frame mountings where they plug in the lower engine compartment area and get the needed slack there. After that, using drywall screw plugs and wire ties I resecured the wires out of harms way. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help tod. Maybe thats what I'll have to do. I am quite sure though that they made a wrong measurement and am not too excited about fixing it this way.
So how much sotp improvement did you feel anyways?

Seems to pull much stronger especially in the higher rpm's. I am using straight pipes currently. Some of the sotp feel could be the sound also. :D

Guys,

There is more than enough slack in the wires. There are 4 clips that hold them to the heat shield. If you start in the front and pull the slack through, and in the back at the corner of the heat shield, tuck the wire under the heat shield, you will find more than enough wire to reach using the stock clips. If for some reason that doen't work, you can take the wire out of the clips and just tuck it behind the heat shield. Another tip, is when installing the 02 sensor, turn it counter clockwise 5 or 6 times so that as you put it in the wire becomes untwisted. Otherwise as you install it you will twist the wire, which will also shorten it.

Hi Dan,
I totally removed my o2 sensors including the wiring in order not to over twist them (wires) when uncrewing. I then installed sensors into pipes, mounted pipes and routed wires with no slack along factory location, For the clips to be put back on the heat shield in the exact same spot as factory, they had to be slid towards engine compartment along the wires about 2 inches. This tells me the mounting points for the sensors were 2 inches further back then factory. When my newly rerouted wire reached for the factory plug in at the engine compartment it came up 2 inches short. At the factory the plastic clip that secures the wiring harness will not be put in the same spot on the wire every time. Your applications had more slack below the frame clip mine had more slack above the clip. Once I realized I had additional slack if I pulled the frame clip, it was no big deal.
Thanks for a very nice product!
