Default 2003 zo6 missfire problem

got a problem with zo6
left home and got a mile away and the motor started running rough
won't idle and popping noise from motor
had engine light on
with scan it said engine missfire
cleared code
then map sensor code
replaced sensor and cleared code and still does not run properly
and no more codes came up
with scanner it seems o2 sensors and working properly
seems it is only running on 4 cyl
awfull smell from exhaust as well
one other thing i can hear a ticking noise from front of motor
almost like a plug wife is off kinda ticking noise
anyone have a clue what i can look for to solve the problem???

you said you got codes so post em. even the ones you said you cleared. If you your CEL came on and detected a missfire did you check your plugs? Wires? Are they connected?

no never checked plugs
did not think 3 or 4 plugs would go bad at the same time
i was driving it when all this started
i feel the exhaust ports are i think there are 3 or 4 that are not firing
they are cold and some are hot
before this happend i could hear a ticking noise from front of motor
faint and i thought it was a bad belt maybe
today i will pull the plugs and see

I had this problem and it turns out my o2 sensors were crossed and the intake valve on the 8th cylinder made contact with the piston. I say pull your valve covers and check your springs first because that ticking noise is not normal. I threw a map code also. PM me if you have any other questions

hmmmm until you said this i was leaning towards plugs....still check them anyways, but like another has said, after checkin the plugs you may wanna pull the valve covers and inspect those springs. 02-04 ZO6's have fallen victim to this.
