Default Getting power for shift light...where?

I have found the group of wires under the dash for tach signal and need to know where to get a key on power source and ground. Any help would be great! Thanks!

There was a post on here some years ago, so do a search and you should find it. It is really good and I found the wire the first time.
I'm going from memory but I think there are 4 white wires, one of whick is smaller or a slightly different color, thats not the one. The other 3 are the same diameter but one is very slightly a different color of white, thats the one, Again do a search Take a look at the following

If you have HUD, there is a shift indicator in the HUD display.

What year is your car? Your pro file is not filled out.

Mine is an 03. These are the instructions that I used a few years back.

I prefer using the shift light at the strip.

Default location for 12V & grd.

There's a HOT and SWITCHED aux wire connector in the passengers foot well. It has 12 VDC HOT, 12 VDC Switched and GROUND. If they have never been accessed there going to be wrapped in black duct tape.Look in the foot well, remove the TOE BOARD, and you will see a big silver box (the BCM). The wires will be above the box to the left near the fire wall They will be orange, yellow and black. The wires are dead ended (not attached to any thing)

The YELLOW is ON when the key is in ACC or ON position and is served by Fuse 11 in the I/P fuse block,The ORANGE is ON at all times, and is powered off Fuse 7...The BLACK is GROUND and is grounded at G202

In 04 Z06's there's an accessory power wire under the steering wheel; it's the pale yellow wire in the small bundle that also includes grey, purple, pink, and sea green. I'm guessing it's the same for all other 03-04 Vette models, at the very least. I tapped into it to get the switchable power for my aftermarket head unit.

Here is a few phone pics

this is where I got key-on power(yellow) and ground(blk) orange is not used

pass footwell above BCM (has blk duct tap from factory)

after tap removed

this is where I tapped for tach signal, group of wires under driver side dash. Group has 4 white 1 larger and 3 smaller. I soldered a needle and set the shift light to a low rpm and tested each wire till I found the tach signal (kinked wire)

ok here is where I mounted the light,I might move it in the future but for now it's a good functional location.

I mounted my shift light on the column too. Makes it alot easier to adjust the RPM's in that location .

No need to go to pass side ft well. All the wires you need are right in the bundle where you found your tach wire.

Metal for ground can be found there too.

Nice job. Now look for even lower ET's!!
