Default Headlight Problem....

I was having problems with my headlight not coming up at all. I got my headlights working. There seemed to be some disconnected wires. Anyways my problem now is that when the headlights go down the passenger side goes down about 1/2" too much. Is there a way to adjust this?? I saw a little white screw that I thought was to adjust it but when I unscrewed it out further the motor still forced the headlight down all the way? Any ideas?

It sounds more like the headlamp gear motors have stripped gears or the rubber bushings within are done. Now as to the disconnected wires...there are the connectors to the motors, connectors to the headlamp control module directly behind the right headlamp, on the right forward frame rail and finally the headlamp/multifunction switch.

Well I'm not sure if they are stripped out because they go up and down perfectly fine. It's just the passenger side closes down to far. Probably more like a lil over a 1/4" too much. I tried using the manual ***** to adjust it but it just resets its self. The wires leading to the motor were cut and "rigged" with electrical tape. So I used connectors and heat shrink and fixed that. I actually have the hood and bumper off checking stuff out. Also I was looking at the motors there looked like there was a cork gasket sealing the case is this normal?

mine started doing this recently on one side. The assy with the **** on it that you can turn to adjust is loose as well. I think maybe he's right and some of the teeth got stripped or gave way.

Hi all,
99frc, are you sure your headlight top shroud cover is correctly adjusted on the assembly? I had an issue with this as well and adjusted the angle of the cover on top using trial and error when it was up. If I remember correctly, there are 4 screws(2 each side) that hold the top on the assy. If you bumbed it or something, it might have knocked it out of whack. Also, was the new gear put in correctly? I can't remember that well when I did mine(years ago), but I thought I had to make sure the position of the new gear matched the position of the old gear or it was off-kilter when reassembled and turned on. HTH

I had to replace my headlight door because it was smacked hard enough to crack the door so it surely could have knocked something out of line. I did notice some white plastic screw type of things when I removed the door and one of them was knocked out and broken.
