Default Brake Master Cylinder Float Location/Cleaning

One of my Z06s keeps showing a "Low Brake Fluid" on the DIC and the respective code for it. The code seems to come and go. Additionally, when it is happening, the brake light on the dash doesn't immediately go from off to full bright. It gradually fades from off, to dim, to full bright and gradually dims back to off after some driving usually. There is no set, repeatable condition under which it shows the code. Sometimes I get lucky and it doesn't show up at all.

I have already replaced the sensor and pressure bled my brakes. The pedal has always been firm and the master cylinder is definitely filled properly. This has led me to highly suspect that the float has some crud on it and needs to be cleaned.

Where exactly is the float in the master cylinder? Is it possible to remove and clean it? Any instructions or pictures would be of great assistance.

Thanks in advance.
