I'm no expert, but I think most of the problems/dificulties involve the active handling / traction control sections standard on all 2001+. Cole just turns off traction control so as to not have to mess with that. But if you are making a program which allows traction control to be on while allowing you to make other adjustments - that would involve more detailed coding and testing.
I feel your pain Buck... I need some programming done for my 01 as well. I emailed Ed Wright and he emailed me right back saying he could do it. I am going to use him as a last resort because I really want dyno tuned.
I emailed Carputing today (they make LS1edit) and they seemed to be willing to work with tuners that want to beta test the new version for 01's. Hopefully I can find someone who will work with me and them. They also said they expect to release the '01 version in the next 1-2 months, I won't hold them to it as I work in the Software Business and know how these things workout.
You can have a dealer flash your PCM to a '00 and LS1edit will work. Apparently the computer runs a little slower afterwards (for reads and updates), but otherwise it looks like it works, but I have no first hand experience. You can always flash back to '01 when the new version of Ls1edit comes out.
